Realme continues to nurture its artillery in the mid-range and today it was the turn of the younger brother of the Realme X50 Pro to arrive in Europe . A mobile that we have been able to thoroughly test in Xataka and we will tell you everything in the analysis of the Realme X50 5G .
It is a smartphone that is very reminiscent of other company phones on the outside and that on the inside integrates a key difference with other average ranges of it: the 5G support . Although what stands out is in other aspects that we have been able to prove more thoroughly.

Maintaining the wrapping and varying the interiors
The Realme X50 strongly reminds us of the Realme X3 SuperZoom or Realme 6 Pro , being large, thick mobiles with common design lines, in fact it has the same dimensions as the X3 (and a traced front). Of course, the back has a reflective metallic finish that makes the green of the back a continuous game of reflections , in contrast to the matte edge. In this the fingerprint reader / power button is inserted, like the predecessors we have mentioned and being, as we will see, in a good location.

There is no audio jack and we see that the screen remains as an addition to the green chassis, as if it stood out. The edges are somewhat slippery, but the rear offers quite a bit of friction and manages not to slide easily . But yes, it is robust and solid, and although it does not break weight records, it exceeds 200 grams and, as usually happens, it shows in the hand, being somewhat heavy.

On the back it should be noted that it gets dirty quite easily . The mobile is well built and the elements of all its exterior manage to transmit a continuity between them despite the different finishes and tones. On the left the Realme X3 SuperZoom and on the right the Realme X50 5G.
As for the screen, Realme once again plays the card of intermingling mid-range and high-end features in this case speaking of a 6.57-inch IPS screen with FullHD + resolution (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) , and the most interesting thing is that it supports Refresh rates of up to 120 hertz (compared to the Pro’s 90 Hz, note), which are noticeable in the experience (due to the fluidity especially in the scrolls ) and compensates for leaving activated. With this resolution and pixel density do not miss out on sharpness, having good contrast and good viewing angles.
The most interesting thing is that it supports refresh rates of up to 120 hertz, which are noticeable in the experience and compensates leaving it activated
That does come somewhat supersaturated at the factory, which is due in part to the intense screen color mode, having a more realistic and balanced experience with the smooth mode. With this, the white balance varies to a too warm tone, but in the screen settings we find a slider to configure this quite to our liking, as well as the OSIE Vision Effect that gives an extra contrast that enriches the display of videos.
As for the audio , the Realme X50 has a single speaker and does not have a 3.5 mm jack. The sound from the speaker is acceptable, with a not too wide dynamic range and a sufficient maximum volume, although it will always be somewhat better if we pull headphones (and perhaps in this case we prefer to disconnect the Dolby Atmos).

User experience
More modest than the Pro but maintaining 5G support , the Realme X50 incorporates the Snapdragon 765G with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Fluency is a constant and we have not noticed any symptoms that the hardware is insufficient to execute demanding tasks, although it gets slightly warm if we play or if we spend a lot of time playing video. We will show you the benchmarks when we can pass them, since for now the software of this test unit did not allow to install them.

Speaking of software, the Realme V50 comes with Realme UI 1.0 on Android 10 , a layer that makes up a lot of aesthetics compared to what we would see in Android stock but with many customization options. They keep the shortcuts bar and a complete games space, as well as some deductive and clean adjustments and the option to use gestures (also for screen off in theory, although they still don’t work well).
For unlocking, this mobile phone has both facial recognition and a fingerprint reader , which as we have seen is physical and is located on the side edge. The fingerprint reader is very fast and undemanding in terms of the surface supported, and facial recognition works very well (although with the limitation of not operating in the dark). In both cases the unlocking is fast and correct.

Like the Pro and other Realme of similar dimensions (or pairs), the battery of the Realme X50 is 4,200 mAh supporting fast charge of 30 watts, hence the entire charge is not in 35 minutes like the Pro, but in something less from one hour. Alternating days at 120 Hz, 60 Hz and automatic, the average autonomy is 1 day and 15 hours, even with moments of game and multimedia, reaching 11 and a half hours on the screen. Plus, the battery charges fully in as little as an hour.
Cameras: meeting minimums and causing déjà vu
With a camera of up to 48 megapixels, a wide angle, a macro lens and the depth sensor we see more modest results than those of the Realme X3 SuperZoom and close to the Realme 6 Pro. With abundant light they are good, although as in the 6 Pro there’s a bit of a problem with reds and overall too much magenta hue with tight dynamic range and detail.Photography in automatic mode.
HDR is quite aggressive in the most demanding situations and can compensate us almost exclusively in sunsets and backlights. At night it adds much more noise to the automatic.
We can get bigger photos and with a little more detail shooting at 48 megapixels. At night it can be helpful to improve the automatic.
At night we will see that the noise appears very easily and that the quality of the wide angle falls quite a bit. A lens that daytime is airy with good snapshots and maintaining the colors of the shot with the main one.Although noise reduction is achieved, the contours are too exaggerated and the white balance is much warmer.
The zoom we see are digital since there is no telephoto lens, but despite this the result is acceptable speaking of up to 5x.
Speaking of front cameras , in general they give more than acceptable results with a good degree of detail and realistic colors, even indoors. HDR is a good ally to save burned skies and portrait mode works much better than rear, with a more consistent focus and good cropping.

Realme X50 5G, Xataka’s opinion
Realme has managed to be a safe candidate in the recommendations of mid-range phones with a good value for money and the X50 5G encourages this to continue. With a configuration that mixes more modest specifications (cameras) and more ambitious ones (screen and 5G), it makes the combination quite balanced and is an alternative to recommend, leaving aside even 5G.
The Realme X50 5G works very well , it has a screen above the minimum in its range and it has a battery that performs excellently. He cannot compete on camera even with his own “brothers” in any case, but he meets minimums in an acceptable way.
As we have seen in other Realme, yes, it is a large mobile and in this case there is no audio minijack (no headphones are delivered), but a case that protects the rear module. All in all, it is a mid-range option with room for improvement but interesting.
In favor
- Autonomy is one of its strengths: it does not drop below 24 hours even if we keep it at 120 Hz.
- The display performs very well considering the range. The 120 Hz is still a good incentive.
- Biometrics do very well, both fingerprint reading and facial recognition.
Against
- In the photographic performance we see problems that remain with respect to other Realme.
- The audio part is perhaps the most unbalanced. Pretty basic and no minijack.
